Sculpture and Installation

Sometimes creativity is not only what you see, but also what you can touch or even bump into. A bit bold, isn’t it? But this is how it’s supposed to be – statues and installations are not meant to be admired from a distance. They want to live among us.

We are not joking when we stay that you will meet art in almost every corner – rooms are being artfully improved by the works of Nerijus Erminas, Vytautas Vižbickas, Ieva Rojūtė and Marija Šnipaitė. Please take a step closer and expect to be surprised.

Algirdas Kuzma – SKERSVĖJIS (The draft)

Could the reception desk be a sculpture? It’s hard to answer when you can’t find either end or the beginning. These endless wind symbols intertwines and creates a new level of art use in everyday life.

N. Erminas – LIZDAS (The nest)

Room 212 is a home within a home. To be more exact, it is a nest, made out of metal branches. If you believe that the ceiling is meant for empty space or a TV set, there is a high chance that you will not enjoy this room.

N. Erminas – MEDIS VIRŠ MANĘS (The tree above me)

Room 402 welcomes you with a very unconventional tree – a tree which is trapped in a technical frame and even has a geometric shadow.

N. Erminas – šviečianti skulptūrinė instaliacija (a glowing sculpture installation)

A stunning light installation that becomes the centrepiece of our lobby bar (after the food, obviously). Let your imagination run wild and find new characters in geometric forms.

M. Šnipaitė – BE VĖJO (Without wind)

Room 312 will make you believe that sculpture can have a lot in common with painting. The ceiling is covered with a huge disc which represents water, moon and night. And then you will notice a small flag, which tells you when to expect an unexpected gust of wind. The rest zone is decorated with abstract fish silhouettes and a very industrial look.

V. Viržbickas, I. Rojūtė – PASLAPTIS (The secret)

Room 201 asks you whether you know what a glass “secret” is. We sure do – it is a memento which one keeps “secret” by putting a piece of glass over it. This artwork is a continuation of that tradition, which created a new story for itself.

Do you know where art lives? Exactly, lives. Because it provokes, raises questions, sometimes gives you answers but likes to stay silent as well. While other hotels decorate their walls with beige drawings in beige frames, Artagonistas creates the perfect excuses to say “ah!”. Dare to take a look and ask. Vilnius’ old town has been waiting for a long time.
