Textiles

Art begins with the canvas. But sometimes what matters is not what appears on it, but what the canvas itself becomes.

Artagonistas laughs at those who, upon hearing the word “textiles” in a hotel, immediately think of bedding. And he invites you to an intriguing encounter with a unique textile art duo—Vaiva Šimoliūnaitė and Rima Šimoliūnienė. Get ready to see fabric in a way you’ve never even dreamed of.

V. Šimoliūnaitė, R. Šimoliūnienė – GUARDIANS OF DREAMS

Guests in Room 202 are greeted by strange gazes watching them from an exceptionally bold textile artwork. These are the guardians of dreams—eyes piercing through the darkness of the night. Some may be startled by the unconventional colors, while others will be captivated by the boldness. No one has remained indifferent yet.

V. Šimoliūnaitė, R. Šimoliūnienė – THE GEOMETRY OF LOVE

In Room 306, visitors are greeted by a geometric exploration of love. More specifically, it is a textile installation in which pyramids formed from glossy and matte fabrics give the planes their character. View them from different points in the room—the work changes as you move, as if it were alive.

V. Šimoliūnaitė, R. Šimoliūnienė – TEDDY BEAR

Room 302 invites you to return to childhood—at least in part, just like the stuffed bear peeking halfway out from the wall, of which you can see only its head, a paw, and a fragment of its shoulder. Perhaps childhood hasn’t quite left this space yet, or maybe you just don’t want to grow up?
