Street Art

Art has never been confined to galleries alone. That’s why street art, born on the asphalt, is all the more intriguing—you might say it provokes or even shocks, but it certainly leaves no one indifferent.

At Artagonist, street art certainly cannot be confined to frames—we let it amaze us just as it would on any wall in a major city around the world—whether created by Rodion Petrov or Aistis Kavaliauskas. And, of course, we take pride in our crowning glory—Jurgis Tarabilda’s “Artagonistas,” which embodies the hotel’s rebellious spirit.

R. Petrov – POST VANDAL

In Room 203, your journey into street art begins, along with a dialogue with abstraction. POST VANDAL is R. Petrov’s statement on how graffiti becomes painting, and how the latter becomes a living, expressive part of the room.

A. Kavaliauskas – THE SHADOW THEATER

Room 301 invites you to the theater—a shadow theater that blends the classic illustration of a hand-cast shadow with ideas drawn from the urban aesthetics of walls. The work is two-layered, just like a theater performance itself—allow yourself to understand everything, but see only what your imagination desires.

A. Kavaliauskas – A PLACE TO BREATHE

Room 205 rather arrogantly claims that it is the best place for inspiration. It speaks through a fluid line drawing that forms hands, with the words “Space for inspiration” appearing between them. Get ready for a creative experience you might not have expected.

J. Tarabilda – NO WALLS, TOUCH ME, CHEESE

The Rūsio Café features three different works by J. Tarabilda. The first—NO WALLS—is a freely interpreted story about how the Artagonist greets visitors not only at the front desk but also continues his stories in the building’s basement. TOUCH ME is an interpretation of Michelangelo’s fresco “The Creation of Adam,” while CHEESE depicts a hand holding a camera, as if it were yet another narrative or story unfolding within the Artagonist art space.

J. Tarabilda – ARTAGONIST

At the reception desk, you’ll be greeted by our main character and source of inspiration—J. Tarabilda’s self-portrait, which has become the Artagonist, a character known for his adventurous, cosmopolitan, and bold spirit. Don’t be afraid to point at him or even ignore him—that’s exactly what he’s waiting for.
